The second vessel
Still holding
her own.
Settled into the harbour mud, her bow turned out towards open water. Doris wears her working life in every plate, rail and length of rope.
Dark blue paint gives way to turquoise, faded red and layers of rust. A net hangs from the stern gear; repairs mark the hull. Beside her, mooring ropes, corroded steel and tide-stained stone anchor the scene to a small corner of a working harbour.
Named after a tenacious little dog, Doris carries something of that same determined character. She is the second original Tideworn sculpture, designed, assembled and individually finished by Scott Matthews in Brixham.

Around the vessel
A story on
every side.

A working silhouette
The full profile: patched paint, exposed platework and the machinery of a working fishing boat.

Built around the work
The open stern gives the net gear, hanging nets and corroded structure room to tell their story.

A little determination
Bow turned out from the wall, with worn red fenders and a mooring line holding her through low tide.

Her place in the harbour
An overhead view reveals the working deck, stone steps and cracked mud of the complete setting.

From the harbour side
Looking over the wall reveals the working deck, the wheelhouse door and the net drum, with stone steps beside the stern.
Look closer
Time, worked
into the surface.

Her name is Doris
A worn nameplate, scuffed fender and rust beneath the railings give the bow its character.

The last of the nets
Tangled fibres, fine chain and layered corrosion gather around the stern machinery.

Below the waterline
The exposed propeller and rudder sit beside tide-darkened stone steps.

Held through the tide
Worn rope wraps the harbour bollard, above rust-streaked stone and weed.
